How the CTC conducts its trips.

Here are the main club policies for the conduct of trips:

  • You should sign up for club trips by the closing date. To do this, club members should use the trip sign-up on the club web page.  Non-members must either contact the trip leader or attend a Wednesday meeting. If you pull out of a trip after the closing date you may be liable for costs incurred on your behalf so it's best to contact the leader as soon as possible.
  • Members may invite non-member guests only with prior permission from the trip leader.  Any guests will be bound by the rules of the club and any non-member who does not have prior permission may be excluded from the trip by the leader.
  • Breaking away from the main party without prior permission of the trip leader is forbidden, so all members of the party should be visible by the leader at all times. Trip members must obey the leader's instructions.
  • Participants on trips must carry enough gear and food (including water) to complete the trip safely, along with any specialised personal equipment (helmet, ice axe, crampons etc.) specified by the leader.  Any participant who does not have appropriate and sufficient equipment may be excluded from the trip by the leader.
  • Dogs and firearms aren't allowed on club trips. Alcohol is currently only allowed at the discretion of the committee.
  • Members are expected to conduct themselves in keeping with the good name of the club. They are particularly requested to respect the property and privacy of land owners.
